What is Stella's Circle?

Stella's Circle is the term used to describe all the programs and services offered by Stella Burry Community Services. The following diagram demonstrates the range of ways in which those in need come to be a part of the Stella Burry community. Some think of it as the "circle of hope".

Real Homes

Without safe, affordable housing, few people are unable to address the other issues in their lives. The creation and maintenance of long term housing options in the community remains a major focus for SBCS. While many are buoyed by the recent growth in the local economy, increased prosperity brings with it a mixed blessing: property values are on the rise and, as a consequence, rental accommodations are becoming more scarce. Members of the Stella Burry community are therefore increasingly challenged to find appropriate housing which they can afford.

Social Enterprise

SBCS operates a variety of social enterprises that allow us to offer high-quality, real-world training for our participants.  These social enterprises, in food services, construction trades and janitorial work, prepare participants for employment in industries that have significant labour shortages. Our business endeavours offer an affirmative, "no-fail" approach to training, ensuring that skill development takes place in a  supportive environment that is also a real, functioning business.
