What is Stella's Circle?

Stella's Circle is the term used to describe all the programs and services offered by Stella Burry Community Services. The following diagram demonstrates the range of ways in which those in need come to be a part of the Stella Burry community. Some think of it as the "circle of hope".

Real Homes

Without safe, affordable housing, few people are unable to address the other issues in their lives. The creation and maintenance of long term housing options in the community remains a major focus for SBCS. While many are buoyed by the recent growth in the local economy, increased prosperity brings with it a mixed blessing: property values are on the rise and, as a consequence, rental accommodations are becoming more scarce. Members of the Stella Burry community are therefore increasingly challenged to find appropriate housing which they can afford.

Social Enterprise

SBCS has pursued business opportunities in the food service sector as well as the Construction/ carpentry field, preparing participants for employment in industries that have had significant labour shortages.  Our business endeavours offer an affirmative, "no-fail" approach to training which ensures that skill development takes place in a supportive environment that also operates as a real, functioning business. We are currently exploring the potential for a home maintenance & renovations business, a yard maintenance business and the development of portable, pre-planted gardens.
